Did you know how Howard Stark got Vibranium?
Black Panther was an amazing masterpiece by Ryan Coogler.There were many things that worked excellently in the movies and one of the reasons why the movie stands out and shines brightly is how amazingly, all the characters have been incorporated in the movies. Also, the story of the movie was beautifully crafted by Director Ryan Coogler. Right from the beginning to the end, every character worked just perfectly and what the Director wanted to deliver was delivered by so many powerful performances throughout the movie and it turnedout to be a blockbuster.
The movie is a totally game-changing event for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as from now on, Wakanda will come out of shadows, and it will share its resources and its knowledge with the rest of the world. Now this means that the world will have access to Wakandan Vibranium and more and more people will be using it for the many purposes.The armies of the world will be weaponized by this new tech, new technological outbreaks will happen and this tech will be used by people with bad agendas as well.
Wakanda has been hiding in its plain sight all this time because it was protecting the immense reserves of Vibranium it possesses from falling into the wrong hands. And yet, T’Chaka’s brother N’Jobu helped Ulysses Klaue steal a bit of Vibranium from Wakanda in 1992. From that time, Klaue became richer and richer as he kept on selling this Vibranium to the highest bidder until Ultron took it all from him.
Other than the Vibranium Klaue stole, Wakanda has managed to keep tabs on every other Vibranium artifact present all around the world as seen in the movie.So if that is the case, then how did Howard stark get hold of Vibranium in the 1940s in Captain America: The First Avenger, and made a shield for Captain America with that? Wasn’t Wakanda supposed to know about this particular Vibranium in the possession of Howard Stark, and later Captain America?Is there any other source of Vibranium which the people of Wakanda don't know?
Stark even let Steve keep this prototype Shield made from the strongest metal on earth as he revealed that this is all of the vibranium that they have. Then Vibranium was not particularly mentioned before Age of Ultron and Klaue even revealed that all this Vibranium came at a personal cost as he had to go through a painful branding. Still, Stark got it without anything like this happening to him.
The Answer to this actually lies in the comic book tie-in to Captain America: The First Avenger and the comic is called “the First Vengeance.” In this comic, Stark was demonstrating the first iteration of the Shield to the military generals at a Showcase in Los Angeles. Here’s what he said:
“Tonight’s performance is provided by Vibranium, a metal my Star Industries researchers discovered in deepest Africa!”
So according to this source, the researchers of Stark Industries found it, which means they may have been closer to Wakanda. But Wakanda keeps itself secluded from the outside world so this still does not explain how exactly these researchers found it outside of Wakanda.
We don’t know how Marvel will go on explain this historical fact after the events of Black Panther, but the only explanation to this could be that since Vibranium came out of a Meteor that crashed on Earth millions of years ago, some part of the meteor could’ve broken off as it entered the atmosphere and landed nearby as debris. Either this could be the case or Stark may have had a history with Vibranium that needs some explanation, as how would he know that this metal is actually called ‘Vibranium’.
